Norwegian Escape has finally joined the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, after 17 months of construction. The ship was handed over to Norwegian Cruise Line in Bremerhaven today and is currently due to arrive in Hamburg later tonight. She is then due to depart from Hamburg on the 25th October before arriving in Southampton on the 27th where she will undertake two 1 night cruises to nowhere before departing on her maiden voyage to Miami on the 29th October.
At 164,600 gross tons, she is the largest ship to ever sail for Norwegian Cruise Line and is an enhanced version of the Breakaway design, dubbed the Breakway-Plus design. She will be christened in Miami on November 9th by musician "Pitbull" the first male to name a cruise ship.
Speaking of his delight at the delivery of their latest vessel, Ansy Stuart, NCL President and Chief Operating Officer, was delighted and excited by the new ship.
