In a fairly radical move for Crystal Cruises, major plans have been announced which will help the company expand over the next few few years.
Firstly, Crystal will create a yacht division, called Crystal Yacht Cruises, which will begin operations this Decemeber with the introduction of the 62 passenger vessel, Crysal Espirit. She will be equipped with zodiacs, jet skis, kayaks and also a two man submarine. Crystal Espirit will depart on her maiden voyage to the Seychelles in December.
Secondly, Crystal have announced that they will be constructing three new ships for their ocean cruises division. These ships will be known as 'Crystal Executive Class' The first ship of the trio is to enter service in 2018. These ships will be all suite and will include 48 apartments which will be made available for sale. Passengers will have the chance to purchase one of these 48 appartments as a second/holiday residence. These ships will have a capacity of 1,000 guests and will be around 100,000grt. Passengers will enjoy far more space for their buck, with the less expensive suites having around 400 square feet. The residences will be around 600 square feet and these will be the largest available at sea. With 1,000 crew, the ratio will be 1:1 for crew to passenger, meaning a higher and personal standard of service for the guests. Emphasis will be on the cusine side with Michelin Star food available in the restaurants. These new ships will be constructed at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Germany.
Speaking of the new class of cruise ship for the Crystal Cruises fleet, Edie Rodriguez, CEO expressed her delight at the forthcoming Crystal Executive Class ships:
"We continue to think bigger, aiming to create unparalleled luxury experiences and adventures for our loyal and new guests, who – like Crystal – continue to seek broader horizons and new perspectives on the world.” We are ecstatic to continue pioneering new areas of luxury travel. Crystal’s newly expanded fleet will truly be travelers’ passport to virtually the entire world.”
"With an impressive 100 tons of space per guest, the average space ratio for luxury cruise ships being 60 tons per person, our new ships’ guest-to-space rations will be vast in comparison to past, current and under-construction luxury ships, reaching all corners of the world safely, smoothly and in the utmost style and comfort"
"It has been a personal mission of mine since joining Crystal to see this incredible company reach new potential – and thus, new luxury travelers – as we continue to deliver unparalleled guest experiences and superior standards of excellence.”
2017 will see the company expand into new markets. In the Spring of 2017, Crystal River Cruises will begin operations with emphasis on world class dining and offering sumptious and well thought out itineraries, punctuated with stylish and luxurious suites and well appointed public spaces in which the passenger can relax and enjoy.
